Looking at a painting with naked eyes is a very different experience from looking at it with the aid of a magnifying glass.

It’s the perspective. In the former, the colours blend seamlessly, the painting looks perfect and certain elements stand out. 

In the latter, the cracks of the canvas are evident, the fineness of strokes stand out, the details look beautiful with their imperfections.

This is a good metaphor for your work. At times, you need to step back to appreciate the completeness of it. Many times you need to bend down, ponder over and polish the details.
